Plot

The plot of Trinity Blood is as such: After the Armageddon the war between human and vampires continue to persist. The Vaticans need to rely on other allies to protect the human from the vampire. The main protagonist Abel Nightroad a travelling priest and a crusnik works for an organization named “Ax”. He encounters a girl called Esther who wants to accompany him to Rome. The order of Rozencreuz led by Abel’s twin Cane decides to continue the war. It’s up to Abel and “Ax” to stop their scheme.

Story: 8/10

The story of Trinity Blood is a bit complicated. For those who are not used to psychological anime may find it boring and a bit perplexing. It’s pretty slow as well. Not full to the brim with high level of excitement as the name of the anime might lead you to believe. However, there is a reason to it. You’ll get your answer in the last section of the review.

Character: 7.7/10

The characters that are good in Trinity Blood, are seriously GOOD. But the remaining cast is a bit disappointing. Abel is one of my most favorite anime protagonists ever. He is cool as fuck. He is a crusnik who feeds on the blood of other vampires, however he mostly stays in his human form. So most people are lucky enough to not to have seen his crusnik form. His twin Cane is pretty badass as well. Iqus is also a likeable character. If you are an oppai fan, you need to check out Aslan. Definitely my favorite lead of the anime. Now coming to the bad part. If you ask me to make a list of worthless anime character Esther will easily make that list. I am yet to understand why she is in the anime and how did she actually influence the plot. Alessandro will hands win the competition for the most spineless character out there. If you have seen Alessandro then you would stop making fun of Krillin or Yamcha from Dragonball Z.

Here are some notable characters from the anime:

Animation and Art: 8/10

Despite tons of drawbacks of Trinity Blood, this is where the anime truly excelled. Fantastic design and superb color choice. You will instantly get awed by the 60% Crusnik form of Abel. All characters were drawn to near perfection.

Music: 8/10

The audio in Trinity Blood is amazing. Listen to “Broken wings” by Tane tomoko. This is by far my one of my favorite ending theme. The openings and BGMs were also pretty cool.

Here’s Senpai’s favorite track from Trinity Blood

Enjoyment: 8.5/10

The action and comedy as well as the music will keep you hooked to the anime. The plot might be a bit hard to swallow for some people and the slow pace may hinder the experience a bit. But overall I found Trinity Blood quite enjoyable. It was one of the first anime that I watched and I loved it.

Final Thoughts

I said before the story of Trinity Blood has lose ends and the pacing was very slow. The reason was that there were more seasons to come, the manga had fascinating chapters. Basically you can say it was a foundation for a great season 2 but unfortunately the mangaka died and the anime and manga both were left unfinished. Can’t say about the anime but the manga had the potential to be a masterpiece had the mangaka not passed away. Finally, I would say this is a pretty good anime with superb action scene, great visuals and mind-blowing music. If you find this review useful be sure to check out Trinity Blood.
