It was announced on Thursday in the official website for Hakusensha’s Young Animal magazine that this year’s 13th issue of the magazine will publish something everyone has been waiting for. That is a new chapter of Kentarou Miura’s Berserk manga of the dark fantasy genre on June 24. The magazine’s 12th issue is supposed to ship on Friday, and is also going to reveal the same information.
Miura will then publish the Berserk manga in Young Animal in every other issue (Hakusensha publishes Young Animal on the second and fourth Fridays of each month).
The 13th issue of the magazine will publish a new chapter as well as republish the manga’s first chapter. The issue will also include a 100-page Berserk separate annex that will include anime information.
The new chapter coincides with the release of the manga’s 38th volume, which also ships on June 24. Hakusensha published the 37th compiled book volume of Berserk in Japan in March 2013. Dark Horse Comics published the same volume in North America in December 2013.
Miura had resumed the Berserk manga as a monthly series last July, but then put the series on hiatus again when the new television anime project was announced in December. The announcement had said that the manga would return this summer and Miura would then publish the series irregularly.
The new anime series will premiere in Japan on July 1, and Crunchyroll will stream the series as it airs.
