Storyline: 8/10

The anime Spy x Family is about a spy named Twilight who creates a fake family in order to complete a mission. He adopts a young girl named Anya, who is actually a telepath, and marries a woman named Yor, who is actually an assassin. The three of them must learn to work together as a family while also keeping their true identities a secret.

The series is set in a world where two countries, Westalis and Ostania, are on the brink of war. Twilight, whose real name is Loid Forger, is a Westalian spy who is tasked with infiltrating Ostanian high society. In order to do this, he needs to create a family that will be accepted into the Eden Academy, a prestigious school attended by the children of Ostanian elites.

Loid adopts Anya, a young girl who has been abandoned by her parents. Anya is a telepath, and she can read people’s minds. She is also very energetic and outgoing, which helps to balance out Loid’s more serious personality. Loid then marries Yor, a young woman who works as a clerk at the Ostania Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Yor is actually an assassin who works for the Garden, a secret organization that operates in the shadows. She is very skilled at her job, but she is also very clumsy and accident-prone. The three of them form a family and move into a small apartment together. They must learn to work together and keep their true identities a secret from each other. As they do, they begin to develop real feelings for each other.

Art and Animation: 7/10

The animation style of the Spy x Family anime is excellent. It’s a blend of traditional and CG animation that is both visually appealing and expressive. The character designs are simple but effective, and the backgrounds are detailed and atmospheric. The animation is particularly good in the action scenes. The movements are fluid and dynamic, and the action is easy to follow. The show also does a great job of using animation to convey the characters’ emotions. Overall, I think the animation style of Spy x Family is a perfect fit for the show. It’s visually appealing, expressive, and helps to bring the story to life. The show does a great job of using animation to convey the characters’ emotions.

Here are some of the specific animation techniques that I think are used well in Spy x Family:

  • Sakuga: This is a Japanese term for high-quality animation. There are many sakuga moments in Spy x Family, especially in the action scenes.
  • Chibi animation: This is a style of animation where the characters are depicted in a simplified, chibi-like style. Chibi animation is often used for comedic effect in Spy x Family.
  • Stop-motion animation: This is a technique where the animation is created by moving objects frame-by-frame. Stop-motion animation is used in a few scenes in Spy x Family, such as when Anya is reading minds.

I think the animation style of Spy x Family is a major reason why the show is so popular. It’s visually appealing, expressive, and helps to bring the story to life. I highly recommend checking out the show if you’re a fan of good animation.

Music: 7/10

The music used in the Spy x Family anime to be very well-done. The opening theme song, “Mixed Nuts” by Official Hige Dandism, is a catchy and upbeat song that perfectly sets the tone for the show. The ending theme song, “Comedy” by Gen Hoshino, is a more mellow and introspective song that provides a nice contrast to the opening theme.

The original soundtrack for the show is also excellent. The composer, (K)NoW NAME, has done a great job of creating music that is both atmospheric and emotionally evocative. The soundtrack perfectly complements the show’s visuals and helps to create a truly immersive experience.

Final Thoughts:

I found Spy x Family to be an excellent anime. It’s funny, heartwarming, and action-packed, with a great cast of characters. The animation is top-notch, and the story is well-paced and engaging. I especially love the way the show balances humor and heart. There are plenty of laugh-out-loud moments, but the show also knows how to tug at the heartstrings. The characters are all so likable, and I find myself rooting for them even when they’re making mistakes.

Spy x Family is a great show for people of all ages. It’s funny enough to keep kids entertained, but it also has enough depth to appeal to adults. If you’re looking for a new anime to watch, I highly recommend Spy x Family.
